The painting titled "DNA Painting No. 1" is a groundbreaking work of art that combines pop art and neo-pop art styles with DNA encrusting technology. Created by Lithuanian artist Tadas Sokolovas in 2022, the painting features a big silhouette pop art portrait of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, one of Lithuania's most famous artists. The painting has vibrant colors that glow in UV light, and is covered with a multitude of motivational quotes and symbols from Čiurlionis' works of art.

This painting is the very first DNA encrusted painting in the world, created through a collaboration between Tadas Sokolovas and two Lithuanian geneticists, Lukas Žemaitis and Ignas Galminas. The painting's canvas is covered with over 30 layers of acrylic and lacquer paint, overlapping to create a colorful graffiti style. The DNA-written information encoded into the painting's varnish can be read using special technology.
The artwork has two sides – the visible one and the invisible one. The invisible side features the first-ever use of DNA writing technology in paint, encoding 196 of Čiurlionis' most famous works of art, as well as containing a digital form of NFT of this actual painting by Tadas Sokolovas. A special symbol was created specifically for this project to indicate that the marked piece of art contains DNA with coded information.
Currently, the DNA Painting No. 1 is secured and exhibited in the Presidential Palace museum in Vilnius, Lithuania. This Lithuanian method of DNA encrusting in painting opens up new possibilities for creating information-containing artworks that are impossible to forge.
