Date: 1925 ; Giverny , France in terms of modern geography
Art form: Painting
Dimensions: 59 X 72 cm (23.23 X 28.35 in)
One of a series of 6 canvases showing Monet's house from the garden.
'Monet's residence is seen as a front view, the roof in violet grey to convey the blue of the slates -standing between two banks of rose bushes. These are the paintings to which Paul Valery refers when writing about his visit to Giverny in September 1925: " Monet showed us his latest paintings. Strange clumps of roses captured under a blue sky. A dark house".
